Promising and easy hiking tour to Wetterin starting from the Niederalpl saddle
The tour starts at the parking of the saddle of Niederalpl (GPS: 47.680846, 15.376559) and first follows the trail northwards (bypassing the restaurant) crossing the ski-slope till reaching the forest road. After turning sharp left, the forest road will directly lead to the amazing Wetterinalm Sennhütte. At the crossing, the tour turns left again and follows the gravel road up towards the summit of Wetterin. The summit cross is not directly reachable from the road but easily accessible via a nice hike through the mountain pasture. The summit provides an awesome surround view on the Mürzsteger Alps, but especially towards Wildkamm and the Hohe Veitsch.
Tour Description
| 00:00 | Start at the parking lot Niederalpl saddle (GPS: 47.680846, 15.376559) and follow the trail northwards towards Wetterinalm (see signposts) around the restaurant. |
| 00:10 | At the crossing, turn sharp left and follow the gravel road westwards up towards Wetterinalm. |
| 00:20 | At the Wetterinalm crossing, turn left and follow the gravel road westwards (heading towards the ski lift). |
| 00:35 | Pass the gate and continue following the trail up towards Wetterin. |
| 00:40 | Leave the gravel road and find your direct way through the mountain pastures to the already visible summit cross. |
| 00:45 | Enjoy the awesome and scenic view from the summit of Wetterin. Obviously best enjoyed with a self-brought refreshment (). |
| 00:50 | Follow the same way back. |
| 01:15 | Well deserved break ( ) at the Wetterinalm Sennhütte.. |
| 01:45 | Follow the same way back as used for the ascent. |
| 02:00 | Back at the parking, end of the tour. |
