Climb up the Hohe Wand via the Leitergrabengrat (II+), combine it with the Steierspur Via Ferrata (C) and descend via Springlessteig (A/I-)

Climb up the Hohe Wand via Leitergabengrat (II+), combine it with Steirerspur (C) and descend via Springlessteig (A)

The tour starts at the parking Zweiersdorf (GPS: 47.807599, 16.038097) and first follows the forest road north towards the Leitergraben. In the middle of the Leitergaben, right after the distinctive wooden bridge, the tour leaves the normal hiking trail and turns right into the Leitergabengrat climbing route (UIAA II+). The tour is weakly marked and sometimes requires basic orientation skills and logic (or a GPS). It ascends along the ridge, normally always fairly easy (I+ / II-) till it reaches its crux, an exposed wall to be climbed up (II+). For inexperienced climbers, the crux is additionally protected with a fixed iron cable, which degrades the tour to a Via Ferrata category B. After successfully climbing up, the tour then heads eastwards towards Hubertushaus but detours using the Steirerspur Via Ferrata (C). After a well-deserved break at Hubertushaus, the tour finally descends via the Springlessteig Via Ferrata (A) back to Zweiersdorf.

Please note that this tour is a climbing route and thus requires climbing skills (UIAA Level II+). The crux is protected with iron ropes though which makes the tour interesting for less experienced climbers.

Please note that a full “Klettersteigset” (via ferrata set) is mandatory for the Steirerspur!
